The Thin Blue Line in My Life

It started at Metro Ministry in Brooklyn, NY. I was the Youth Pastor for Bill Wilson and we were running around 500 youth for our Tuesday night Life Club Youth Meeting. Because outside gang youth would attack our youth when we dismissed I requested help from the 83rd Precinct.

NYPD Detective Eddie Santiago began to help us at the church and that was the beginning of the THIN BLUE LINE in my life. A friendship was started between my family and his. Later when I became the Pastor of First Assembly of God, Rapid City, SD one of my board members was the Chief of Staff for the Rapid City, SD Police Department. Dick Talley (Chief of Staff), myself and another pastor started the first Rapid City PD Chaplaincy Department. This was my first chaplaincy.

Later we moved to Hawaii to work with Dr. James Marocco, Sr. Pastor of The King’s Cathedral on Maui. I became the Extension Pastor overseeing the King’s Chapel on the Island of Molokai. One day one of the officers came into my office to talk and there we established a friendship. Later he informed the Maui County Police Chief of my past experience with NYPD and Rapid City PD. For many years, I proudly served as a Chaplain for Maui County Police and Fire Departments.

When I moved to Lakeland, FL again I proudly serve as a Chaplain for the Lakeland Police and Fire Departments.

Today, my wife Sheila and I co-founded Chaplaincy USA, Establishing Emergency Service Chaplains across America, teaching pastors and ministers how to pastor those who protect.

Mike, I’m glad to see that you and Sheila are doing really well. I’m not sure if you remember me from our Metro days, I’m one of Ginger’s bus workers. I’m currently an OTR truck driver and have met a chaplain for truckers in Ontario, CA. I have a great respect for what you do for so many. I wish one day our paths would cross again. May God continue to guide your steps in this journey of life.

    Pastor Mike,

I am very thankful that you were pastoring in RC when I was a brand new believer. Your ministry really helped me become more established in my faith.

    Your web site looks great!

    Tess
